Unless someone – anyone – can prove to me otherwise (preferably with evidence), I will continue to assert that the United States – in this case the Obama administration – no longer has Israel’s back.  It is common knowledge that the administration is in favor of a Palestinian state as previous actions and deeds have indicated as much.

But despite all of this, the head of the Central Intelligence Agency – one Leon Panettawent to Israel a couple weeks ago to warn their leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, not to commence bombing Iran without notifying the Obama administration.  The Israelis have already made assurances in the past that they would warn the U.S. well in advance, so I do not see what the issue in question is.

It seems like a contradiction that the Obama administration would rather engage in diplomacy with Tehran – which Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad doesn’t care for much – instead of being proactive, while at the same time basically telling Israel to restrain their bombing ambitions.  After all, this is the same Iran that has said publicly that they want to wipe Israel off the map.

This, at least to me, seems to smack of Jimmy Carter revisited.  And it is becoming increasingly clear that the Obama administration is getting increasingly more clueless – daily it seems – about their foreign policy.  The North Korean showdown that took place recently is a good example.  The Obama administration had the chance then to assert itself and make North Korea back down from their threat to launch their missile.  Turns out that it was Obama and Co. who backed down instead.

But back to Israel.  Because the Obama administration, in so many words, has opted not to be a true ally to Israel, has made the decision for this Jewish nation to have few options in regards to the Iran situation.  Regardless of any warnings from Netanyahu that come Obama’s way, I truly believe that Israel will have little choice – actually no choice – but to bomb those nuclear facilities in Iran.  And quite honestly, I do not blame them.

You see, if they didn’t, Iran would eventually bomb Israel – with the end result being the nation getting obliterated.  In other words, Israel would cease to exist.  This would present yet another golden opportunity for the Obama administration to “man-up” and give Iran the ultimate ultimatum: leave Israel alone or bear the consequences of anything that the Israelis decide to do.  I hope this is the route Obama takes, but knowing their diplomatic track record, this is hardly a given.  Israel will be the lone ranger in all of this as they, like the U.S. has done themselves on more than one occasion, will undertake this all by themselves.  And like our country, they will succeed.
