Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Navy Vice Adm. Bruce W. Clingan for reappointment to the rank of vice admiral and assignment as deputy chief of naval operations for operations, plans, and strategy, N3/N5, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Clingan is currently serving as commander, Sixth Fleet/commander, Striking and Support Forces NATO/deputy commander U.S. Naval Forces Europe/commander, Joint Headquarters Lisbon/Joint Force Maritime Component Commander Europe, Lisbon Portugal.
