Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced the following Department of Defense Senior Executive Service appointments:

• John S. Albanese has been appointed as a senior professional and is assigned as senior level attorney-advisor, Washington Headquarters Services, Office of the General Counsel, Washington, D.C. Albanese previously served as a supervisory attorney, Washington Headquarters Services, Office of the General Counsel, Washington, D.C.
• Stephen Welby has been appointed to the Senior Executive Service and is assigned as director, systems engineering, Office of the Director, Defense Research and Engineering, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics), Washington, D.C. Welby previously served as deputy for advanced missiles and unmanned systems, Raytheon Missile Systems, Tucson, Ariz.
