When is religion or faith ever used by a politician as anything other than a "political prop"? Politicians will continue to exploit religion and faith as long as there are voters to win over who will buy into their religiosity (real or false).

Maybe I missed something but from this article alone, it sounds like Obama is trying to enforce the separation of church and state as well as reiterate the first amendment - Freedom of Religion. Aren't his comments to David Brody simply saying that we achieved the founding fathers vision of being able to choose how, who, and/or what we worship without concern of government interference? Doesn't the National Day of Prayer completely and totally ignore the separation of church and state as well as Freedom of Religion?

As for his support of Islam, why is this wrong? My guess is simply because it isn't your religion. Maybe Obama has deeper intentions. Maybe his plan is that if America stops and recognizes the Muslim faith and becomes more understanding of their beliefs, the radicals would see that America is more open minded than they previously thought and that America is not the evil demon of the west. Maybe through a show of understanding, our enemies can see that we are not as bad as their leaders have stated. Maybe peaceful words and understanding can make the difference. I mean it's pretty obvious that fighting and war doesn't work and it only increases the resentment toward America and further escalates the issues as a whole. Don't you think it's time to take another approach since we have proven that murder doesn't work?

With all due respect and with no ill intent, I have to say that articles like this only further fuel the terrorists' fire. Disrespecting their religion dishonors them, their teachers, and their ancestors. How do you feel when somebody completely disrespects your religion? For example, how did you feel when abortions became legal? Maybe you didn't go out and blow up abortion clinics, but some "radical" christians did. Don't you think this might be how the "radical" Muslims feel when America lashes out at them?
(On a side note, only a fool would believe that there is no such thing as radical Christians)

It all comes down to understanding and willingness to work together. I know, I know, the first response is that the radical Muslims don't consider understanding nor are they willing to work together, but in reality, as a whole, does America have this understanding and wilingness? I don't believe we do and this is pretty well demonstrated in the above article, but even more so through our previous president's actions. His hard work did nothing more than make the situation worse.
