Obama Slammed By Military Experts

Several former US military commanders have complained about President Barack Obama dragging his feet in deciding whether or not to give his generals the additional troops they say they need to succeed in Afghanistan. Now after Obama’s speech Tuesday night, these military experts continue to doubt the president’s understanding of what it will take to win against Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

Since the election of President Barack Obama, former Lieutenant General McInerney (US Air Force) has frequently blasted the Obama administration for what he regards as its weakness on defense. McInereney, a Fox News Military Analyst, remains unimpressed after Obama’s highly-touted televised address to the American people.

In an op-ed for the conservative media group Stand Up America, McInerney and co-author Major General Paul Vallely (US Army) argued that Obama and his advisers fail to acknowledge that “we are in a Global War Against Radical Islam.”

Generals Vallely and McInerney say that “radical Islam” is an “ideology that is as evil as Nazism, Fascism and Communism.”

McInerney and Vallely also claim that President Obama is all but ignoring the recommendations of General Stanley McChrystal, the head of NATO forces in Afghanistan, to increase troops levels in Afghanistan, which they argued could lead to defeat.

Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Peters (US Army) talking with Judge Andrew Napolitano on Fox News Channel dismissed the president as inept and naive. Col. Peters complained that what Obama craves most is adulation and applause. He descriptively called Obama “a vampire who doesn’t live on blood — he lives on applause.” Peters also stated that Obama’s strategy is just “plain nuts.”

“That’s the only possible characterization for [Tuesday] night’s presidential declaration of surrender in advance of a renewed campaign in Afghanistan. President Obama will send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan — but he’ll ‘begin the transfer of our forces out of Afghanistan in July of 2011.’ Then why send them? If you’re going to tell the Taliban to be patient because we’re leaving, what’s the point in upping the blood ante? For what will come down to a single year by the time the troops hit the ground? Does Obama really expect to achieve in one year what we haven’t been able to do in more than eight?” said Peters.
