No State Dinner For You!

As those of you who have been following the missteps of President Obama as late already know, he has received Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the White House. On an aside, do you remember the television sitcom “Seinfeld”? If you do, then you probably remember the “Soup Nazi”; he was the recurring character who, if he was in a bad mood, would deprive you of the mainstay of his NY soup stand. Basically, he would say, “No soup for you!”

What I’m getting at here, folks, with the “Seinfeld” reference is that Obama is hosting a State dinner Tuesday night (tonight); and as one would probably expect, Obama has apparently decided to be the “State Dinner Nazi”. While lots of Democrats, Hollywood supporters and other leeches got their coveted invites from the White House, very few – if any – Republican leaders received an invite to the event. Those who did receive an invite (this is a partial list as 300 were invited) included:

  • Hillary Clinton
  • Oprah Winfrey
  • DreamWorks’ David Geffen
  • DreamWorks’ Steven Spielberg
  • DreamWorks’ Jeffrey Katzenberg
  • Sony Pictures’ Michael Lynton
  • WME Entertainment Agency head Ari Emanuel
  • Timothy Geithner
  • Steven Chu
  • Nancy Pelosi
  • Harry Reid
  • Actor and White House groupie Kal Penn
  • CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta
  • CNN’s Fareed Zakaria
  • Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal (shocker!)
  • Mitch McConnell (wisely declined to attend)

Now, those who weren’t considered worthy of an invite:

  • John A. Boehner
  • John McCain
  • Ben Nelson (surprising)
  • Max Baucus (surprising, as well)
  • Joe Lieberman (declined to attend)
  • Admiral Michael Mullen
  • Eric Cantor

Seems to me that this is once again Obama, the most partisan President ever, dissing bi-partisanship, something that he had promised during his presidential campaign.
