(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02), member of the Education and Labor Committee, today released the following statement after the president announced his final health care plan:

“The Washington liberal majority has selective hearing on health care.  This is most recently highlighted today with the president’s announcement of his final health care plan that ignores the will of the American people.

“You would think after record-breaking town hall meetings, an unprecedented House Call on Washington , and elections in Massachusetts , Virginia, and New Jersey, that congressional leaders and the administration would wake up and tune in.  Instead of working across the aisle to agree on health care elements that will make health care more affordable and accessible for all Americans, the president is determined to push a job-killing government takeover of health care.  This is a blatant dismissal of the American people’s preference.

“Adding salt to the wound, the president has elected to consider using divisive maneuvers developed behind Washington’s closed-doors to pass this partisan legislation.  The bottom line is that the path is no better than the plan itself,” said Congressman Joe Wilson.

Liberals always have this “I’m smarter than you, we know best” mentality about them. Greg sets them straight.

Hollyweird And Climate Change

Written by Stephen Rhodes on November 26, 2009 - Comments No Comments

One thing that you can say with certainty is that the Hollyweird set and the liberals have something in common: they come into a discussion rarely armed with facts. Ed Begley, Jr. validates my point perfectly as he espouses the myth (fraud?) that is climate change. If you like liberal babbling, then you’ll love this. Enjoy!

In recent memory, we (us conservatives) have been by and large outnumbered by the moderates. But apparently, that has changed.

A very recent Gallup poll is showing that we outnumber moderates for the first time since 2004. Need further proof? Read further:

Gallup’s breakdown shows that 40 percent of Americans call their political views conservative, 36 percent moderate and 20 percent liberal. Last year, conservatives were tied with moderates at 37 percent. While Gallup first documented this trend in June, the finding has been sustained through the third quarter.

So what put conservatives into the lead? Independents, apparently. Now, 35 percent of them are self-proclaimed conservatives, up from 29 percent last year. Meanwhile, the portion of independents who call themselves moderate dipped to 43 percent from 46 percent.

Among Republicans, 72 percent now call themselves conservative, up from 71 percent last year. Among Democrats, 22 percent now call themselves conservative, up from 21 percent in 2008.

Gallup also discovered that Americans have turned more conservative on specific issues. For example, perceptions that there is too much government regulation of business rose to 45 percent this year from 38 percent last year.

Based on those numbers, things are looking better for the GOP according to Gallup; they further added:

“The question is whether increased conservatism, particularly among independents, will translate into heightened support for Republican candidates.”

“Right now, it appears it may. Although Gallup polling continues to show the Democratic Party leading the Republican Party in Americans’ party identification, that lead has been narrowing since the beginning of the year and now stands at six points, the smallest since 2005.”

Gallup further states that trend stems from the increasing number of independents who now lean Republican.

It gets better, folks.

A Real Clear Politics compilation of polls by ABC/The Washington Post, Rasmussen Reports, CBS and Gallup shows that on average Democrats have a lead of 45 percent to 39.5 percent over Republicans in next year’s congressional races.

That data comes on the heels of an August Gallup poll that shows self-identified conservatives outnumber self-identified liberals in America.

According to that survey, more than 160,000 respondents in Gallup polls conducted From January to June 2009 have described themselves as either “conservative” (31 percent) or “very conservative” (9 percent) – for a total of 40 percent.

At the same time, 16 percent identified themselves as “liberal” while 5 percent described themselves as “very liberal – for a total of 21 percent.

According to Gallup, liberals lag behind conservatives on a statewide level, and conservatives have big margins in all but three states. According to a Gallup analysis:

“Conservatives outnumber liberals by statistically significant margins in 47 of the 50 states, with the two groups statistically tied in Hawaii, Vermont, and Massachusetts. In fact, while all 50 states are, to some degree, more conservative than liberal (with the conservative advantage ranging from 1 to 34 points), Gallup’s 2009 party ID results indicate that Democrats have significant party ID advantages in 30 states and Republicans in only 4,” said the analysis. “Despite the Democratic Party’s political strength – seen in its majority representation in Congress and in state houses across the country – more Americans consider themselves conservative than liberal.”

You’ve got to love those numbers, people. Thnaks to the POTUS (that’s Barack Obama to the acronym-challenged), the numbers have slowly but surely been leaning to the conservative side. And it should only get better as the health care issue is making this all possible.

Remember during the early days of Barack Obama’s presidency (January to be exact) when Rush Limbaugh said, “I hope he fails”? That small statement, in the eyes of the left (radical and otherwise) who cannot fathom the possibility of  anything succeeding outside of taxpayer-funded government programs, gave them the notion that Rush wanted the U.S. to fail.

As we already know, the lefties think that America can only succeed if Obama succeeds. As we also know, this mentality is wrong on many levels, from the welfare state to the public school system to the various “family service” agencies that consistently peddle their poisonous anti-family agenda, it is liberalism itself that fails America on every occasion that it gains any new toehold in society.

So in essence, Limbaugh’s words held this meaning: he wanted Obama’s policies to fail. Not the man – his policies. Funny thing is, Rush’s words illustrate everything that Obama is doing right now. Actions such as the liberals’ attempts at state-sponsored “compassion”, for example. Rush, like the rest of us, simply does not want a continuation of international disasters that have been a direct result of naive, morally and spiritually bankrupt leftists sticking their nose where they do not belong.

And of course, this is exactly what Obama, with his “Can’t we all just get along?” mentality not to mention his utter and complete incompetence, is doing. Small wonder the Europeans like our president. A good example of how the international community respects Obama would be the International Olympic Committee eliminating Chicago as a possible host of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games – which is a blessing in disguise, in my humble opinion.

Now when former president George W. Bush was in office, the world treated our country completely differently. All it takes to remember this is the 9/11 incident back in 2001; back then, foreign leaders, liking us or not, at least respected us. If you remember, Bush basically told the international community that they were “for us or against us” – and to be held accountable, as well.

Meanwhile, Bush’s edict got the predicted backlash; during that time, while these other countries should have been shoring up their national defenses agaisnt militant Islamics, they – especially the Europeans – were cutting underhanded deals with the Middle East. Remember the so-called “oil-for-food” (way to go United Nations on that one!) program? That’s right – that program was chock-full of corruption while on the U.N.’s watch.

This was a case of European leaders lining their pockets while empowering terrorist states. And what does this get Bush? Being despised by the left and especially the international community for having a set balls while standing firm and shutting the door on the “oil-for-food” scam. Now enter Barack Obama into all of this.

Obama has this problem – and this goes back even before his visit to Copenhagen, Denmark – he genuinely thinks that the rest of the world was supportive of him. I think we know that isn’t the case here. The trip to Copenhagen wasn’t so much a lame attempt in getting Chicago to host the 2016 Olympics insomuch as trying to get the world to “like America” once again. And as much as I don’t trust a majority of the European nations, I will give them credit for this: they saw right through Obama, knowing that he was being narcissistic while making a pitch for Chicago.

So basically, the trip by Obama and his wife overseas was a waste of time completely. What it did accomplish was this: it gave the international community another reason not to like America – or at least like a weaker version of America. Folks, there is a reason why America is a superpower – because of our strength. Obama, at his current rate, will try to ensure that our country is on “equal footing” with the rest of the world. That policy is along the lines of what the United Nations’ grand goal is – to make everyone equal.

I learned a long time ago that respect among your friends, colleagues and peers is a whole more important than worrying about whether you’re liked. Obviously Obama didn’t learn that while under the tutelage of Saul Alinsky. Our president needs to understand that this is not a high school mixer where friendships supersede character.

Liberal Group Targeting Beck

Written by Stephen Rhodes on September 20, 2009 - Comments No Comments

Apparently the liberals have entirely too much time on their hands. Between the left-leaning organizations and the radicals who have made the news in one way or another, they somehow find more ways to target conservatives as if this is their livelihood.

Nonetheless, a liberal advocacy group founded by TV producer Norman Lear has launched an attack on conservative talker Glenn Beck, saying his influence on the GOP is “shameful.”

In an e-mail sent to supporters, People for the American Way’s President Michael B. Keegan referred to last weekend’s protests in Washington against President Barack Obama and the Democrats and rebutted the claim that as many as 2 million people took part.

“Officials estimated the crowd to be about 60,000,” Keating wrote. “Significant, yes, but not indicative that these people are anything more than a vocal minority representing the views of only a small portion of Americans.

“A PFAW staffer who showed up to check out the scene talked to many participants, and when she asked why they showed up, an overwhelming number gave the same answer: ‘Glenn Beck sent me.’”

Keating continued: “It is shameful that the GOP would give someone like Glenn Beck that sort of power. The Rush Limbaughs and Glenn Becks of the world have been pulling the strings of the Republican Party for too long.”

The e-mail cited an upcoming conference called How to Take Back America, claiming it will be hosted by “some of the most fringe players on the Radical Right,” and asked for donations to help the group “fight back.”

Meanwhile Fox News is disputing a claim by an African-American advocacy group that its call for a boycott of advertisers on Beck’s Fox TV show has had a significant impact on its ad revenue.

Color of Change sought the boycott more than a month ago after Beck accused Obama of being a “racist” with a “deep-seated hatred for white people.”

In a press release, Color of Change cited data from unnamed “industry sources” and asserted that the ad boycott “costs Glenn Beck over 50 percent of ad dollars.”

The group claimed that 62 advertisers have “distanced themselves” from Beck, and the boycott is costing Fox nearly $600,000 per week.

A Fox News spokesman told TVNewser: “The Color of Change figures are wildly inaccurate on all fronts — revenue has not been affected in any way.”

In what can be described as good news for conservatives, a poll was taken Friday by Gallup of over 160,000 Americans (not just some straw poll, mind you), and the results are in: “self-identified” conservatives outnumber “self-identified” liberals in all of the 50 states.  Seriously.  All 50 states.

In 2009, 40% of respondents in Gallup surveys that have interviewed more than 160,000 Americans have said that they are either “conservative” (31%) or “very conservative” (9%). That is the highest percentage in any year since 2004.

Only 21% have told Gallup they are liberal, including 16% who say they are “liberal” and 5% who say they are “very liberal.”

Thirty-five percent of Americans say they are moderate.

“In fact, while all 50 states are, to some degree, more conservative than liberal (with the conservative advantage ranging from 1 to 34 points), Gallup’s 2009 party ID results indicate that Democrats have significant party ID advantages in 30 states and Republicans in only 4,” said an analysis of the survey results published by Gallup.

“Despite the Democratic Party’s political strength– seen in its majority representation in Congress and in state houses across the country–more Americans consider themselves conservative than liberal,” said Gallup’s analysis.
Massachusetts, Vermont and Hawaii are the most liberal states, even though conservatives marginally outrank liberals even there. In Massachusetts, according to Gallup, 30% say they are conservative and 29% say they are liberal, a difference that falls within the margin of error for the state. In Vermont, 29% say they are conservative and 28% say they are liberal, which also falls within the survey’s margin of error for the state.  In Hawaii, 29% say they are conservative and 24% say they are liberal, which falls within the margin of error for that state.

In one non-state jurisdiction covered by the survey, liberals did outnumber conservatives. That was Washington, D.C., where 37% said they were liberal, 35% said they were moderate and 23% said they were conservative.

Even in New York and New Jersey, conservatives outnumber liberals by 6 percentage points, according to Gallup. In those states, 32% say they are conservative and 26% say they are liberal.  In Connecticut, conservatives outnumber liberals by 7 points, 31% to 24%.

Alabama is the state that comes closest to a conservative majority. In that state, according to Gallup, 49% say they are conservative and 15% say they are liberal.

In President Obama’s home state of Illinois, conservatives outnumber liberals, 35% to 23%.

Gallup’s results were derived from interviewing 160,236 American adults between Jan. 2, 2009 and June 30, 2009.

Even though conservatives outnumber liberals in all 50 states, in 21 of these states self-identified moderates outnumber conservatives, and in 4 states the percentage saying they are conservative and the percentage saying they are moderate is exactly the same.

The two states with the highest percentage of self-identified moderates are Hawaii and Rhode Island, where 43% say they are moderate.
