Just when we’re settling into our Thanksgiving routine, I just thought I would give you fair warning that OBC ABC, in their quest to favor curry with the Obama Administration, is going to flood our television screens as the network will present to the masses, “Christmas at the White House”, hosted by Oprah Winfrey. The program is scheduled  to air on December 13 at 10 PM Eastern.

Just more exposure for a President that, in my opinion, spends too much time on TV. I suppose that’s a result of his plummeting ratings; however, it seems to me that if your popularity’s sinking, being on TV is the last thing that you want to do. But what do I know? I’m just a mere blogger spouting my two cents. In any case, I plan on watching something that evening that is only 500% better than anything that ABC cobbles together – and that would be TVLand.

I haven’t perused the television listings for the week of January 20 as of yet (but then again, nothing gets in the way of my watching of the Fox News Channel, MMA or my sports subscriptions through DIRECTV), but one thing is certain – I am not going to watch Oprah Winfrey’s program during Inauguration Week.  There’s a couple reasons why I won’t watch:

  • Oprah’s show format.  I think it is common knowledge that she is an unabashed Democrat.  Anyone who has at least taken a peek of her show knows that there’s a liberal bent to that program (Her Book of the Month segment, etc.).  In other words, she’s telling the gullibles what to read – not unlike the Democrats, who think they already know what’s good for us.
  • Oprah’s taking the show to D.C. during Inauguration Week.  That’s right, she’s taking her entire operations to D.C.  No doubt the show is dedicated to Obama as she has already rented out the Opera House at The Kennedy Center, a D.C. institution.  And you can expect her topics for the week to be along the lines of what is on the menu when the Obamas dine at the Inauguration Ball, the school that the Obama daughters will attend (some Quaker school that Jimmy Carter’s daughter Amy attended), etc.  You know…real riveting stuff.

There was also this rumor that Obama would give Oprah the post of Ambassador to Great Britain.  God, I wish she’d accept it.  But then again, realistically, if she did that, she’d have to go through the vetting process which I don’t think she wants to go through.  After all, that would mean she’d have to abdicate her throne as the queen of afternoon TV, which would mean she would take a big financial hit – which she isn’t about to do.

But the selfish side of me wants her to take the post, just so we don’t have to look at her during the afternoons.  And if she left, the quality of television improves markedly.  Naturally, I am only speaking for myself here, but during Inauguration Week, I’ll be watching anything but any programming with the Oprah name attached to it.  And this is where I am going to implore you to do the same.

I’m not suggesting that you watch MSNBC or some left-wing TV network, either.  But at the very least, avoid watching Oprah during Inauguration Week at any costs.  A root-canal without anesthesia is more pleasurable than anything she has to offer.  Last but certainly not least – while I report on things with the Obama name attached to it, fortunately, I do not have to for the entire Inauguration Week have to watch it.  Thank God for freedom of choice.
